It started as a day of riding in the Colorado Mountains with a few close friends 34 years ago. Today it is the premier off-road charity ride in the United States. Founder Wally Dallenbach, of the Dallenbach Ranch, Basalt, could not have dreamed his ride would change the lives of so many young people in western Colorado.

Through the Colorado 500 Charity Fund, participants, sponsors, and friends of the Colorado 500 have donated to various agencies and schools in excess of $1,000,000. Wally's dream of helping others has become even bigger than the majestic Rockies!
